Share markets fell sharply over the last week not helped initially by tech stocks due to a privacy breach at Facebook and then later in the week after President Trump proposed tariffs on US$50bn of imports from China fuelling renewed fears of a trade war.

Share markets were a bit messy over the last week as instability in the Trump Administration and worries about US trade barriers, particularly in relation to China, continued.

Despite a bit of volatility around the US tariff issue and the Italian election, share markets bounced back over the last week as it all turned out less bad, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and President Trump agreed to meet and Goldilocks returned to the US jobs market with February payrolls showing stronger than expected jobs growth and weaker than expected wages growth.
